Stitches West 2010

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Just returned home from teaching at Stitches West at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Feb. 25-28.  I taught a full slate of 6 classes over the weekend.  It was great fun visiting with old friends and meeting new knitting buddies too.  A new feature at this event was the “Meet the Teachers” at the opening day luncheon. Each teacher spent 2 minutes at each table meeting the guests and talking about their classes.  It was loud; it was chaotic (teachers don’t follow instructions very well!); it was a lot of fun.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and it made an exciting start to the weekend.

“Hi” to Tonya and Resa from my Buttonhole class; Barbara from the Dorset button workshop; Billie , Myra, Whit, and Laura — thanks for your enthusiasm for intarsia; and special “hi” to Ruby in the Steeks class.  This special lady used to knit for Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.  It was a delight to meet you!

2009 Stitches Midwest

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

The 2009 STS Midwest event occurred Sept. 10-13th in Schaumburg, IL.  The weather was lovely this year. It was tough to stay inside, but all the participants were enthusiastic, eager to learn, and ready to shop at the Market for the weekend.

I taught a full slate of 6 classes: Breathtaking Buttonholes & Buttonbands; Dorset Buttons; Picture Perfect Intarsia Knitting; Knitting in the Shadows; Short Row Savvy; and Joy of Steeks.  All classes, except Thurs. p.m. and Sun. p.m., sold out.  It is such fun to visit the Midwest – people are so friendly and I recognized many returning students – always a happy time.

“Hi” to Mary Ann (and the M&M gals); Joan from New York City; Kitty and Penny (and Priscilla, too!); and all the rest of my students and knitting buddies.  It was lovely visiting with you again.

KnitKnotes

Yarn-lovers, I have bad news:  Our KnitKnotes archive is currently down. Maureen has some KnewKnotes* coming and I’m working on restoring the old ones as soon as possible.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

*Sorry for the terrible pun but I couldn’t help myself.
